Almond Eye Surgery
More attractive eyes, deeper looks are everyone’s desire. One of the applications that have started to take place on the agenda in parallel with eyelid aesthetic surgeries in recent years is the almond or cat eye operation. Although it may seem like a new “trend” for aesthetic purposes only, such applications have been applied by oculoplastic surgeons for years, especially for the correction of some deformities. For example, the shape and function of the eyelids are corrected with similar methods in the reconstruction of eyelid tumors, in the repair of the lower lids that have problems in closing the eyelids after facial paralysis, or in the repair of sagging and incompletely closed lower lids after trauma or surgery (for example, a lower lid aesthetics).
The main task in almond eye operation is to slightly change the inclination of the eyelids. For this, the junction of the caps on the ear side is taken one or two millimeters above its position. In normal anatomy, the junction of the lids on the ear side is 1-2 mm above the junction in the nose. Apart from appearance, this also affects the pump function in tear evacuation. The important point here is the variables such as genetic difference, race, age, family facial structure.
Almond eye aesthetics is a process that we apply to make the eye area look more attractive without disturbing the harmony and symmetry of the eye and face structure of the person. We perform this application in operating room conditions, under local anesthesia, with minimal aesthetic incisions from the crow’s feet lines on the edges of the eyelids. Since the lines around the eyes are used, there is usually no scar after the operation. Since it is a procedure performed under local anesthesia, the patient is discharged on the same day and does not experience any problems in her daily life quality and social life. Aesthetic sutures placed in about a week and 10 days are removed. It is a long-term durable process.
It is possible to achieve a more attractive and deep gaze with such a procedure, which will be performed by preserving the eyesight and lid functions of the eye in the appropriate facial structure. Like all procedures applied around the eyes, a detailed eye examination is a must before such interventions. The application of it by a physician who knows the oculoplastic surgery principles and has a good command of the tissues around the eye and the anatomy of the eye will bring the most successful and healthy results.
