Although it may seem like a new “trend” for aesthetic purposes only, such applications have been applied by oculoplastic surgeons for years, especially for the correction of some deformities. For example, the shape and function of the eyelids are corrected with similar methods in the reconstruction of eyelid tumors, in the repair of the lower lids that have problems in closing the eyelids after facial paralysis, or in the repair of sagging and incompletely closed lower lids after trauma or surgery (for example, a lower lid aesthetics).
The main task in almond eye operation is to slightly change the inclination of the eyelids. For this, the junction of the caps on the ear side is taken one or two millimeters above its position. In normal anatomy, the junction of the lids on the ear side is 1-2 mm above the junction in the nose. Apart from appearance, this also affects the pump function in tear evacuation.
